A Weblog by Bradley Cain
Technology & Pop Culture is your geeky guide to gadgets, new media and all things digital. We scrape The Tubes daily and funnel it into something decidedly delicious. Just for you.
Have a tip? Send it along to and we'll make it happen.
Jack White wrote and drummed the new Quantum of Solace theme song. Alicia Keys did something.
This might be a disaster Another Way to Die.
Don’t worry! We have the Pineapple Express theme.

Ahh, a mildly entertaining list of the Internet’s oldest domain names. (That’s a dot com for all you non-geeks.)
Where do Apple, IBM and Marble.com fit into the picture?
Who was first back in March of 1985?
Here they are.
The Top 8 X-Files episodes Chris Carter says you absolutely-have-to-watch in order to see the new X-Files: I Want to Believe movie. Or else. In theatres tomorrow.
10 years! Wow. That makes me feel like I’m 30 26.
I need a cocktail!
Normally I avoid political commentary on my blog… but this just cracked me up! Run, sweetheart, run! http://www.redlasso.com/ClipPlayer.aspx?id=566f38d3-f06d-4291-a36c-1dbfbcd96acb
Apparently Antioch Mall was the home of the very first Showbiz Pizza in 1980.
My inner child just cried.
Like the time I looked up Mitzi Mozzerela’s skirt and was horrified at the vagina-less pneumatics that were there. Ahhh, memories.
Anyway, I only mention all of this because those creepy singing robots (AKA the Rock-afire Explosion) have been known to sing other, not-so-kid-friendly songs.
I stumbled upon the Antioch Mall connection while doing some background research. And if you have some cash to spare the original creator of the bots will program any almost any song you like.
Enjoy a trip down memory lane courtesy of some very devoted people.
It had to happen sometime.
The University of Nottingham has a modern take on that Periodic Table of Elements poster collecting dust at your Alma mater.
The Periodic Table of Videos is an interactive, clickable, videoized web version of the familiar Periodic Table. It was created by Brady Haran of the BBC along with a handful of chemistry scientists and professors at the University of Nottingham.
Click on your favorite element and it will launch a YouTube video of demonstrations (read: burning things) and commentary from important people wearing glasses.
I heart magnesium.
Anthony Bourdain is a chef, world traveler and lover of all food that is weird. His show Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations which airs on the Travel Channel is now in its fifth season.
All that background aside… he’s coming to Kansas City to give a presentation entitled “A Cook’s Tour: Global Adventures in Extreme Conditions” at the Midland Theatre on September 16.
With a private reception with Anthony at the Bristol in the Power & Light District to follow precede happen sometime.
Okay, so not really. They used lasers! Friggin’ lasers.
Radiohead and a handful of geeks used several laser technologies to film their lastest video for “House of Cards“. And they did it all without video or film of any kind.
Really interesting behind the scenes of the process at the link. And the video too, of course.
And if you’re patient, play around with the data visualization flash application. WOAH!
Larry David is bringing back Curb Your Enthusiasm to HBO for a seventh season! Award American humorists unite.
The new season will premiere in early 2009. Set your TiVo’s.
