Technology & Pop Culture is your geeky guide to gadgets, new media and all things digital. We scrape The Tubes daily and funnel it into something decidedly delicious. Just for you.
Have a tip? Send it along to and we'll make it happen.
Tomorrow the United States of America will make history by inaugurating Barack Obama as the first African-American President in its history as a nation.
And CNN and Microsoft want to help by “capture[ing] the most detailed experience of a single moment ever”.
At the moment Obama takes the Oath of Office, attendees of the event are requested to e-mail CNN three photos.
Those three photos will be used along with Micorsoft’s Photosynth technology to create a 3D visualization of the event.
1. Take one photo of the moment when Obama takes the oath. If you have a digital camera with a zoom lens, take three photos (wide-angle, mid-zoom, full-zoom)2. E-mail each photo as soon as possible to email@example.com (one photo per message, 10MB size limit). Don’t forget to include your name in the message if you’d like to appear in the list of the contributors. Please only send in photos you took yourself.3. Go to cnn.com/themoment to see all of the photos in our photosynth
Check out this awesome example of the Roman Colosseum put together by National Geographic using the Photosynth technology.
In case you missed Barack and Michelle Obama‘s interview from 60 Minutes this past Sunday here is the link to the entire interview, in all its streaming-internet-video-glory.
All the cute Obama moments included.
And such a distinguished and classy interview by Steve Kroft! Props to him and CBS.
Steve Kroft speaks with President-elect Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, about his historic election victory, his personal transition, and his family; And, Andy Rooney salutes the art of print journalism.
An interesting look at what my generation thought about last Tuesday.

Barack Obama‘s blog has a Flickr slide show of photos taken during Election Night 2008 with some great behind the scenes shots.
My favorites are Obama‘s reaction to McCain‘s, admittedly, moving concession speech.
And you might have seen this amazing picture floating around the tubes yesterday.
Completely unofficial and probably staged but moving none-the-less.

On the eve of the Opening Ceremony of the Beijing Summer Olympics we present a look back at the logos that represented the talented athletes who used performance-enhancing drugs to get there.
Show starts tomorrow at 8:08 pm.
Get it. 8/8/08 at 8:08.
There are much better things to attend to!
(Ok, ok, I’ll admit the TiVo is recording the HD version. Just for the sheer theatrical spectacle of technology, lights, smoke and pyrotechnics that it is.)
Normally I avoid political commentary on my blog… but this just cracked me up! Run, sweetheart, run! http://www.redlasso.com/ClipPlayer.aspx?id=566f38d3-f06d-4291-a36c-1dbfbcd96acb
