Sachiko Kodama’s Ferrofluid Sculpture Is Like Woah

Posted by Bradley under Art, Science, Technology

After seeing the alien wonder that is Sachiko Kodama’s ferromagnetic fluid sculpture I have come to the conclusion that she might be the Cloverfield monster.

And I want my large, novelty coffee mug back please.

Periodic Table Of Videos Trumps Your Science Room’s Wall

Posted by Bradley under Science, Technology

It had to happen sometime.

The University of Nottingham has a modern take on that Periodic Table of Elements poster collecting dust at your Alma mater.

The Periodic Table of Videos is an interactive, clickable, videoized web version of the familiar Periodic Table.  It was created by Brady Haran of the BBC along with a handful of chemistry scientists and professors at the University of Nottingham.

Click on your favorite element and it will launch a YouTube video of demonstrations (read: burning things) and commentary from important people wearing glasses.

I heart magnesium.
