RED Digital Cinema Drops the Scarlet 3K
Posted by Bradley under Personal, Technology
RED Digital Cinema makes some pretty serious cameras. Like the RED One –with a 4K video resolution. Think 1920×1080 times two! Wait, soak that in. Let me repeat that. 4000 x 2250. Check the graphic below for an explanation.
See that tiny little SD square at the far right? That’s the Handycam everyone has. The Canon XH-A1 of Blatant Mockery fame is the 1080P square. Like your flat screen TV. Minor problem… the RED One costs $17,500. Ouch!
Set for availability in early 2009, the 3K Scarlet will be sub $3000. I’m thinking $2999. Well worth the price. And it records to Compact Flash cards! Now if we can find a computer capable of editing said footage…
