Slumdog Millionaire Gets Top Honor From The Kansas City Film Critics Circle

Posted by Bradley under Entertainment, Movies, Personal

Slumdog Millionaire received the Best Film of 2008 honor from the Kansas City Film Critics Circle this past Sunday.

Slumdog tells the tale of an orphaned Indian teen who is accused of cheating when he wins the Hindi version of Who Wants to be A Millionaire.

And is brilliantly directed by Danny Boyle of Trainspotting and 28 Days Later fame.

I wholeheartedly agree with the Film Critics Circle and truly feel this movie is deserving of a little gold man for Best Picture.

Let’s hope the Academy agrees.

If you haven’t seen it yet it comes with my highest recommendation.

Hit up the link for the rest of the winners.

Obama’s Blog: Scenes From Election Night

Posted by Bradley under Movies, News, Personal

Barack Obama’s blog has a Flickr slide show of photos taken during Election Night 2008 with some great behind the scenes shots.

My favorites are Obama’s reaction to McCain’s, admittedly, moving concession speech.

And you might have seen this amazing picture floating around the tubes yesterday.

Completely unofficial and probably staged but moving none-the-less.

Review: Janet’s Discipline Delivers the Dance

Posted by Bradley under Entertainment, Personal, Pop Culture

Alright, I’m kinda biased to Miz Jackson. However her last album was a stinker. A few hot tracks but nothing to write home about. Well it’s 2008. Strap grandma down. It’s Janet’s latest — Discipline. Woah! It’s definately the soundtrack to the summer. Or my sex life. One of the two. Here are my favorite tracks.

  • “Feedback” - The first single… hot hot hot, new sounds for Janet.
  • “LUV” - Great beat, screams Pharrell.
  • “Rock with U” - MY FAV!! OMG. Ohhh ohh. Strobe lights make everything sexy. ;) Kylie Minogue eat your heart out. This will make you dance!
  • “2nite” - Powerful, can the radio handle it? Probably not. Love the highs. Although a little cluttered, still good.
  • “Greatest X” - 90’s throwback, tear factor
  • “Good Morning Janet” - OK, OK it’s an interlude track but it’s techofun
  • “Play Selection” - Stop it! Another interlude. Who’s she talking to??
  • “The 1″ - Missy Elliot and punchy beats and layering, damn!
  • “Curtains” - Soulful, slow and powerful

So bottom line. Listen to “Rock With You” and shake your butt. Janet’s back.
